Plum Blossoms

Well I'm figuring out how to go about blogging. I am making some new discoveries although I still have a lot of questions on how to make things look the way I envision them in my head...all in good time I suppose. The first of these marvelous discoveries occurred when I was trying to upload pictures & was viewing the Edit Html page instead of the normal compose page. I blush to admit that I struggled to figure that out for about an hour. Oh & it was so simple to fix, just one little click of the mouse & there was my picture. Oh joy.

Over the next little while I want to share some of the things that I have been working on during the last few months. The first item up is the bookcase that I salvaged. Regrettably I don't have the characteristic "before picture" of the veneer finish. I love drawers & cabinets that have an unexpected pop of color inside, so I knew that I wanted to have something unexpected in the back panel of the book case. After surfing around a little bit I got my creative juices flowing, the concept of fruit blossoms popped into my head. Those darling little buds that appear early in the spring before the leaves come out.

Well I took that tree bud concept & ran with it, & this is what I came up with:

All other surfaces were painted dark chocolate brown. All the circles were painted free hand. I made a stencil for them but I ended up preferring just using a brush. It was a really fun project!
