I have been very absent from the blogging community but I have accomplished a few things during this period of time.
I poured my first bees wax candles. Some in baby food jars, then I discovered the plastic protein powder scoops are close to a tea light size so I've been making them in there ever since. It is time consuming however. I should buy more protein I guess...
I baked crinkle cookies & chocolate fudge cake all for myself. The remainder of the time I've been trying to convince myself to stop eating so much sugar! It's not working. So far.
I made only one decorated onsie & bought the rest of my baby gifts in complete disregard for my ambition to hand create more gifts. Why is everybody either pregnant or with a new babe in arms? I'm starting to feel like a bit of an oddity these days.
I had some small success in my garden, no pun intended. It reminded me of how difficult it must have been for those who would have had to rely on their produce in order to survive. Luckily we have farmer's markets where we can buy fresh produce from BC. We ate peaches & blueberries by the case, numerous of them in fact... I think we crave fresh food from surviving all winter on produce shipped from long ago & far away.
We took short walks on the trails & in the parks, the Mr hates walking but he took me anyways because he loves me.
We enjoyed the river on numerous occasions. Skipping rocks, making inukshuks & wading up to our ankles in on the slippery stone.
I burned my fingers badly in hot oil while cooking at a Stampede breakfast. I have never burned myself that seriously, the part of my nail even lifted off of the nail bed. It was pretty intense.
I did a little beading project then sent it away in a little package.
We had a guest with us from Sweden so we took her to some sights including some hot springs. I'd always wanted to swim there when I was a child so I finally got to experience it.
I also worked every day instead of taking off time when my boss said I could. We had awful weather so it wasn't the worst year to be in the office day in & day out. Who was it that said time is money? Well we needed more money in this case than time so that's the choice we made. We were plagued with rain & more rain, then after that came the mosquitoes in throngs. The gardens struggled. The car has some type of problem where rain water pours into the passenger's feet by the liter when it rains, it was quite a surprise the first time it happened but now we drive prepared with a bucket & a towel. Where we're living is infested with mold, we're doing our best to combat it which is a loosing battle. My parents have been in process of repairing their roof for half a year, the house was covered with tarps most of that time just waiting for a sunny day to come our way. The Mr finally got a job after a 16 month holiday, he earns more than I do even after my two raises & that's a really good thing. I'm more than happy to leave the bread earning up to him.
Well fare well summer, we miss you. Here's to all things new, including a new season.
