It's been months now since I started this blog, ever promising to actually write something! I have been struggling to have the energy to get everything done after a full day's work I guess, but my husband is out tonight & I'm actually alone in the house & it feels great! We love to be together but I guess for me alone time is also important.
I have attended a couple ladies Bible studies through our church & have really enjoyed them as they seemed to be very applicable to me. A few of the points that I took from them include:
-reading books of the Bible & then divide them into sections, categories or themes. That was really helpful to me in order to be able to remember what & where I have read things. I really need to have a "big picture" in my head, an actual visual idea of how things are. That includes everything from knowing how to drive somewhere or how to spell a name, I have to be able to picture it. I'd never had someone explain this study help idea with me.
-affirming that my identity is in Christ, not in what career I have or what I do. "Identity apart from God is inherently unstable. Without God, our sense of worth may seem solid on the surface, but it never is--it can desert you in a moment...If anything threatens your identity you will not just be anxious but paralyzed with fear. If you lose your identity through the failings of someone else you will not just be resentful, but locked into bitterness. If you lose it through your own failings, you will hate or despise yourself as a failure as long as you live. Only if your identity is built on God and his love...can you have a self that can venture anything, face anything." Tim Keller
