Felties

I came across the idea of working with felt & embroidery floss about a year before I finally got around to trying it out for myself. My first challenge was to find felt that was not bright primary colors. I actually found my best luck in a dollar store & scored some dark purple, navy blue, dark brown & cream. I drew a few birds & came up with the silhouette that I liked. Then I used a variety of different colored embroidery floss to stitch them up with the blanket stitch. I stuffed each one until they were soft but able to hold their shape. I had my heart set on some pom pom trim, it was expensive but I was kind of hung up on the idea. I hung it in our guest area & think it makes the space look much more inviting. I was so pleased with it that I made a second garland for a friend but with bright teal, fuchsia & cream. I have a bit of a crush on bird silhouettes currently!
